EGA Products Available in Zimbabwean Stores

Across large parts of Africa, many households lack access to safe and efficient fuels and still rely on burning firewood or paraffin for cooking. At Ener-G-Africa (EGA), we are working to help improve people’s lives by reducing fuel dependence and making cooking faster and safer through ensuring the availability of fuel-efficient and affordable stoves. We are excited to announce that in Zimbabwe, our cookware and stoves are now on sale through select House & Home and Caterwise Turura retail stores, giving more families and small businesses the opportunity to benefit from our products.

Gareth Hair, EGA’s General Manager, says he hopes orders will increase as people reap the benefits of using the products and word spreads. EGA stoves require up to 65% less firewood than traditional stoves and are designed to offer a high-quality but cost-effective alternative. Our cookware range also provides a safer and more durable substitute for aluminium pots, which are widely used due to their affordability, but are not designed for safety or longevity. EGA products are available in both Caterwise Turura stores in Harare and in three House & Home stores, namely Greenfields, Seke Road and Marondera Town.

“EGA has always focused on providing cost-effective solutions and improving access to clean, fuel-efficient options for households, who have not traditionally been able to afford them,” Gareth explains. “The retail price on our products here in Zimbabwe ensure we remain true to that aim. Zimbabwean families and small businesses will benefit from the fact that we have designed affordable but robust products that will outlast other products on the market.”

For example, EGA’s innovative double-walled eCOpot cookware range is an energy-efficient, climate-smart cooking solution. The eCOpot (available in 6 and 8 litre sizes) is equipped with a triple-layer bottom and an optimised double-wall construction, which means it reduces fuel usage by 20% and significantly improves cooking times. “If you think about saving 20% on your monthly fuel costs and what that money could be used for instead, you start to see the real value of switching to our cookware,” adds Gareth. “Our MAFECS stove, which is designed to work together with the EGA eCOpot series (but can also be used as efficiently for braaiing, conventional cooking, and with a wok) is compatible with both firewood and wood pellets, meaning consumers have options.”

EGA is proud to supply our popular 20W and 45W solar panels to communities across Zimbabwe. These compact and reliable panels are playing a vital role in helping Zimbabweans stay connected during the country’s frequent power outages. Whether for charging phones, powering power banks, or supplying energy to 12V and 24V batteries for use with essential household devices, our solar solutions offer a dependable and affordable alternative when the grid goes down.

“Securing orders from retailers like Caterwise and House & Home means a lot to us, as this is a very new product to the Zimbabwean market,” says Gareth. “Through this partnership, we can get our products to market. We believe once the consumers experience the quality and efficiency of our products, they will see the difference for themselves.”

He adds that EGA is in discussions with two additional supermarket chains in Zimbabwe to discuss a potential partnership to expand market access even further. “We hope to announce another deal soon,” Gareth concludes.
