Ener-G-Africa Expands Clean Energy Agent Programme to Three New Provinces
South African townships are plagued by high unemployment, which remains one of the most pressing challenges, particularly among the youth. With few formal job opportunities, many residents are left without a stable income, fueling poverty and perpetuating economic hardship. This lack of employment highlights the critical need for entrepreneurship and local businesses as key drivers of economic development.
Recognizing this, Ener-G-Africa has successfully signed up three provinces on the clean energy agent programme, aimed at promoting entrepreneurship. This programme is run in partnership with Ranyaka and the SHARE Hub. The programme allows Ener-G-Africa and its partners to empower locals from townships in KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Gauteng with business skills to sell Ener-G-Africa-produced clean-cooking pots and stoves.
The programme adopts a “train-the-trainer” approach, where main agents are trained by Ener-G-Africa to guide the agents. This capacity-building strategy fosters sustainable growth, enabling communities to thrive economically. Beyond selling products, the programme equips participants with essential business skills, highlighting the importance of empowering communities through skills training and entrepreneurship for long-term success.
By nurturing local talent and entrepreneurial drive, the programme builds a foundation for economic resilience and self-sufficiency in these communities.
